Position Summary

The Front End Software Engineer will develop, test, and support the Kaleidoscope Scholarship Management Platform in a fast flow, agile team environment. Capable of implementing solutions across our stack, this role will focus on the customer and applicant facing experiences of the product.  You’ll have the opportunity to use your development skills in React, NextJS and Node.js to build the next generation of our platform. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Managers and UX Designers to refine, improve, develop and deliver frontend features  
  • Work with SDETs to assist in authoring frontend automation tests, advocating for quality and reliability in our product 
  • Taking UX mockups from Figma, build and maintain a frontend design system; use this design system to rapidly develop frontend features 
  • Work with backend developers to develop feature-specific internal APIs 
  • With guidance from the Engineering Lead, work independently and use available resources to remove barriers and complete tasks on-schedule by exercising strong judgement and problem-solving skills 
  • Develop observable code and proactively configure monitoring in our APM tools; rapidly debug and fix issues as they occur and provide root cause analysis 
  • Serve as a culture champion of Kaleidoscope Group PBC, and work in accordance with Company policies and values
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience  
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building web applications (HTML/CSS/TypeScript | ReactJS | NodeJS) 
  • Deep experience in JavaScript frameworks (NextJS or similar technologies) 
  • Experience implementing distributed micro-frontends with a common component library 
  • Experience integrating with Web APIs (REST | GraphQL) 
  • Experience with Git and GitHub development workflows 
  • Experience in accessibility standards compliance and assistive technologies 
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure monitoring (Prometheus, Kibana, Zipkin) 
  • Knowledge of Codespaces or Remote Development practices 
  • Familiar with web testing automation in Playwright or similar tools  
  • Familiar with CI/CD processes (GitHub Actions) 
  • Familiar with Figma or similar tools 
  • Proven critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills

  • Available to work 3-5 days per week at our Minneapolis, MN office 
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship 
  • Ability to pass background study
